Before creating each baby scrapbook layout, decide what you want to include in the album.

Unlike a photo album where you simply fill up photo slots, scrapbooks add a wonderful experience for you to save, relive and enjoy memories of your toddler's first year. So out of the dozens of baby pictures, you need to look for the photos that are most meaningful to you. As you go through your photos, here are some great items to consider:
  • Gorgeous pregnancy scrap book ideas (first sign of pregnancy, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months)
  • Ultrasound
  • Birth of the baby (hospital photos of baby with mom and dad)
  • Baby's arrival home
  • Baby with family (siblings, grandparents, etc.)
  • Nursery room
  • First (smile, crawl, giggle, bath, toy, food, word, etc.)
  • First photo with the family

Choose a background paper for each of your pages

Also, include the congratulation cards, present wrappers, and gift bags that you received. Rather than tossing these into a box and tucking it away somewhere, use the pictures, messages, and die-cuts as embellishments for your baby album!

Some of the present wrappers or large bags can be trimmed and used as background paper. This will make your album that much more special.

6 Simple Ideas For Your Baby Scrapbook Page on Their First Year!

1. Find pregnancy photos for your scrapbook

Use three photos taken of the mom-to-be at a side view. Create one horizontal mat with three panels and place it so that the bottom of the mat is in the middle of the page.

Above the photos, use die-cut letters and spell M-O-M-M-Y.

Underneath the photos, write down your thoughts about having a baby like your own pregnancy quotes, such as "For now in mommy's tummy, forever in her heart" or "A baby is a gift from God".

When looking for quotes to write down, always look for those that give special meaning to your pregnancy journey and let you remember things that you've experienced along the way.

Write these little quotes as a border around the top and bottom part of the photo mat. Embellish the page with a few heart-shaped supplies or even confetti pieces.

2. Open ultrasound results and images

Either freehand or download the silhouette of a pregnant woman. Adhere your ultrasound photo to the belly of the silhouette.

Journal how it feels having a little one growing inside of you. This makes for a beautiful and heartfelt baby scrapbook page to add!

3. Baby's birth

You might want to include a couple of pages showcasing your baby's birth.
On the first page, use a black and white 5×7 photo of your newborn. Place the photo in the upper left corner. Accent the photo with a colored ribbon (pink for a baby girl, blue for a baby boy). Include two smaller photos–a close up of the baby's foot and a close up of the baby's hand. Place these photos in the bottom right corner. Next to the large picture, put "Welcome Baby _______".

Journal your baby's birth information like the place, time, weight, height, and who was present on top of the page. Include your baby's ID bracelet too.

Design a second page with hospital photos of the baby with mom and dad. Enhance the page, write down some of the sayings and incorporate photos from the congratulations cards.

4. Get a Nursery Room Photo

Chances are once your little one becomes a toddler, his or her baby room will be converted into a toddler's room. Be sure to include a page or two of your little one enjoying his/her room. If you have extra wallpaper or border, use it as the background for your scrapbooking page.

For example, if your baby's room has a teddy bear theme with green and white stripes, use leftover green and white stripes for your background. attach a large cutout teddy bear to hold a photo of your sleeping photo. Also, you may include smaller photos of the furniture in the room.

Being able to witness your little one's first year, whether it's the first smile, the first bath, or the first time tasting baby food, is such a precious time to include to your pages as memories. Try to capture a few of these many "firsts" as you put together your scrapbook ideas for babies.

5. Baby's first bath

Document your little one's firsts and include them on to your pages!
Take close up photos of your child's first bath. Is it in a special baby tub? The kitchen sink? Capture your baby's expression as he or she experiences the warm water.

Take a photo of your little one wrapped up in a towel. Place a border for your scrapbook page using rubber duckies. You can buy scrapbook paper that has rubber duckies or use a rubber stamp. Then, mat each photo with a yellow border.

For the title of the page put "Bath Time". incorporate a few notes and your thoughts on the page. Finally, accent the page and include little bubbles or a larger rubber duck.

6. Feeding time

Creating a catchy title is an easy way to make a unique baby scrapbook page. For instance, you may write the words "Yum! Yum!" along with photos of your little one eating.

Add matting to some of the photos, and adhere a couple without matting. Sometimes just add a splash of color on the corner of a page to create a fun layout.

Final Thoughts

A DIY baby book offers an endless array of designs and it's a fun way to preserve family memories, especially of your little one. Once you decide on your photos and themes, you'll discover how easy it is to create beautiful layouts.

Remember to incorporate your personal touch and shower each page with love, such as including cut-outs from the congratulations cards or goodie bags, or maybe search for trinkets to celebrate your little one's first year of life. Once you're through, you'll have a scrapbook for baby that you will love and cherish for many years to come!
